FATE members represent independent colleges of art & design, university art departments, and community colleges throughout the United States and is represented at most major education conferences to promote the goals of the organization. For 30 years FATE has promoted excellence in arts foundations.

FATE is a highly active and growing association. If you have a keen interest in networking with others who are involved with the instruction of foundational art courses, FATE may be the place for you. For three decades FATE has been collectively sharpening the methodologies and theories of instruction during the first years of college. Biennially, FATE hosts an expansive but immersive gathering of artists, designers, historians and educators who share in the goal of making the foundational experience in art a solid springboard for a successful academic and professional life. The next biennial will be held April 3–6, 2013 in Savannah, Georgia and hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design. Go to the conference site to read more details about this upcoming event. The 2013 FATE Biennial Conference "PostHaus" is set to host a record number of relevant and dynamic sessions, workshops and forums. Paper proposals are being excepted now through June 1, 2012.

Additionally, FATE Regional Events occur throughout the United States and Canada providing opportunities to learn and share. There are even conversations about a future event abroad (more details coming).

The Winter 2013 issue of the FATE Newsletter is available in electronic version. Through this seasonal, comprehensive communique, you can stay tuned with the various activities and initiatives of FATE for the advancement of "excellence in art foundations".
